What is An All-Natural Antibiotic?

Antibiotics was first discovered in 1940, name as penicillin.

What was happening before that? Actually antibiotic substances existed in natural form.

Lets explore the benefits of using natural antimicrobial agents for certain types of bacterial infections.

Although it is not verified completely about the effectiveness for many natural antibacterial.

However, some of them have been proven effective and powerful in some cases.

Before trying them,  it is advisable to discuss with your doctor about symptoms that could relate to bacterial infections.

In some scenario, no natural cures are available and when bacterial infections are left untreated, it can spread very fast and become more complicated to treat.

How Antibiotic drugs works:

Damage components of the bacteria, like cell walls, that allow them to protect themselves
Destroy the bacteria
Inhibited bacterial replication
Natural antibiotics might work, but it is important to understand whether they will be effective for a specific infection.

The Best Natural Antibiotics
Many research has been done on antibiotic drugs, the concerns over multi-drug resistance have led scientists to revisit natural compounds with antimicrobial properties.

which includes many compounds from plant-based substances, known as phytochemicals.

like:

Phenols
Polyphenols
Terpenoids
Essential oils
Alkaloids
Lectins
Polypeptides

Lets know some most common natural and powerful antibiotic substances, what they may be effective for, and when they might be useful.

Turmeric

Turmeric has a potent active ingredient: curcumin.

Considered to be anti-inflammatory and supportive of a balanced immune system, curcumin is now also shown to be effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria in lab samples.

Curcumin might be effective against the bacteria that causes MRSA as well as E. coli.

Curcumin has antibacterial activity against pathogenic bacteria found in tooth infections and periodontal infections.

It is important to know that turmeric has not been demonstrated to cure or treat any viral or bacterial infection in human studies, and should not be substituted for the treatment plan suggested by your physician.

Honey

Honey has been used as a cream to treat skin infections and soothe burns.

Some research does actually prove that using honey in surgical wound dressings can promote better wound healing and reduce the appearance of scars.

The sticky and moist of honey helps to coat wounds, protecting them from dirt and contaminants while fostering the right kind of environment to allow for tissue repair.

healing benefits include:

Low pH levels, which can prevent bacterial replication that could cause infection
Honey is a broad-spectrum antibacterial, able to prevent growth of at least 60 different strains, including MRSA
Hydrogen peroxide, which can prevent bacterial growth

It is also not only beneficial topically.

It is taken for soothing sore throats.

It is important to know that children under age 1 should never be given honey because it contains toxins that can make them ill with botulism.

Again, there have been no studies mention honey can kill bacteria or treat infections when consumed, it has only been studied in preventing or treating wound infections when applied to the skin.

Garlic

Garlic concentrate can ruin bacteria in test tubes, and is even effective against MRSA and C. albicans, two pathogens that are becoming increasingly resistant to conventional pharmaceutical treatments.

Garlic successfully treat bacterial infections caused by Salmonella and E. coli, which may commonly cause urinary tract infections.

Note that, These benefits have only been shown in the lab, not in the human body.

Garlic can be taken in many forms, including raw, roasted to create garlic concentrate.

Garlic is safe to ingest for most people and is rarely allergenic.

However, consuming large quantities of garlic might lead to gastrointestinal upset.

You should be aware, in case you take blood thinner that higher garlic intake can have an interaction since it may also thin the blood.

One should not self-medicate a UTI unless consulted with a health care professional.

Untreated urinary tract infections can lead to severe kidney infections that may require hospitalization.

People also use garlic oil in the ears or vaginal area to try to  treat infections.

It is not proven to be helpful in scientific studies and can cause worsening irritation and infection.

Oregano Essential Oil

Oregano, a plant in the same family as mint, may have medicinal properties when it is extracted into a super concentrated essential oil form.

Oregano essential oil has benefits primarily because of carvacrol, the active phytonutrient.

Essential oil is not the same thing as oil of oregano, which is not as concentrated.

It might be helpful for the following:

Skin fungal infections
Sinus infections
Oregano essential oil should not be taken internally.

A few drops should be paired with a carrier oil (like coconut oil, almond oil, or olive oil) and applied to the affected area.

Oregano oil should be diffused into the air and breathed in for sinus infections.

Again, the mentioned benefits have not been proven in high-quality human studies, so oregano oil use should never be a substitute as the treatment recommended by your doctor.

Ginger

Ginger is one of the best anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory food that you can find. It contains gingerol, terpenoids, shogaol, zerumbone and zingerone as well as powerful flavonoids with anti-microbial properties. It may help you fight many strains of bacteria effectively.

One can have it as raw, or chew on it after meals as a mouth freshener. Grate some onto your salads and soups. Try to add some to your morning cup of tea.

Onion

Onion is a rich source of therapeutic sulfur compounds called cysteine sulphoxides besides containing flavonoids that have amazing antibiotic effects.

Raw onion can be beneficial for health. Add it to stews and soups or just saut some. To make it more potent, add some garlic to it.

Pineapples – contains the enzyme bromelain, which has a healing antibiotic effect when ingested. Move over cranberries, pineapples also help fight infections. They are used to relieve inflammation, ulcerative colitis, and to improve the health of your urinary tract.

What is antibacterial food?

Cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, horseradish, kale, kohlrabi, mustard, turnips, and rutabaga are members of this family. Isothiocyanates are reported as antimicrobial agents [23] against bacteria (E. coli O157:H7, L. monocytogenes, Salmonella, S.

Healthy ways to strengthen your immune system

Avoid smoking.
Include fruits and vegetables in your diet.
Exercise regularly.
Maintain healthy weight.
Avoid alcohol, or drink only in moderation.
Make habit of having good sleep.

What is the strongest antibiotic for infection?

Vancomycin, long considered a "drug of last resort," kills by preventing bacteria from building cell walls. It binds to wall-building protein fragments called peptides, in particular those that end with two copies of the amino acid D-alanine (D-ala).
