In a significant move towards a tech-savvy healthcare ecosystem, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi is set to revolutionize the payment landscape with its AIIMS Smart Card. By March 31, 2024, the premier health institute will fully embrace a 100% digital payment system, eliminating the need for cash transactions.

The AIIMS Smart Card, introduced as a pilot project in selected departments, will soon become the exclusive mode of payment for all procedures and investigations. This futuristic approach aligns with AIIMS's commitment to enhancing patient convenience and streamlining financial transactions.

Picture this: no more fumbling for cash or cards at counters. The AIIMS Smart Card will be your all-access pass to hassle-free payments. Whether you're at the hospital, an OPD, or a specialized center, the top-up counters for the smart card will be strategically located, ensuring accessibility around the clock.

AIIMS Director M Srinivas, in an official statement, emphasized the need for this transition, citing a recent incident where outsourced service providers tampered with patients' bills. This move not only safeguards patients from financial discrepancies but also ensures a transparent and auditable accounting process for the institute.

The journey began in November 2022, with the AIIMS Smart Card pilot launched in collaboration with SBI Bank. By April 1, 2023, patients and their attendants were already benefiting from a digital payment experience. The positive response and the institute's commitment to a fully integrated system have accelerated the timeline for the card's implementation.

As the March 31 deadline approaches, AIIMS is gearing up to become a cashless facility, setting the stage for a secure, efficient, and patient-centric healthcare environment. Patients can bid farewell to lengthy queues for payments, whether for medical procedures or a quick snack at the cafeteria.

In the era of digital innovation, AIIMS Delhi is not just a healthcare provider; it's a pioneer in leveraging technology for the well-being of its patients. The AIIMS Smart Card represents more than just a payment method; it symbolizes a transformative step towards a future where healthcare and technology seamlessly intertwine for the betterment of all.
